HRD Network: What’s ahead for 2012

Following the launch of the HRD network at the end of 2011 focusing on the ROI of Talent Management with international guest speaker, Morten Kamp Anderson, we asked the 30 plus HRD’s signed up so far to suggest event subjects for 2012: what pressing business issues they wanted to talk about with their peers.

Whilst the dates and speakers are still being finalised, here's what they want on the agenda:

What impact does HR really make to the board? - To explore the impact of having an HRD on the board and understand what CEO's are really looking for them to do
How social media can drive Fairer Access - To explore social media best practice and how it does/should play a part in attracting and retaining employees
Why multi-culturalism changes everything - Recognising the changes in Community Cohesion, to explore international cohesion best practice
EQ and IQ: Understanding and leveraging the differences - Embracing capabilities by role rather than hierarchy, to explore the link between EQ and stress, health and performance
“I want to be part of something bigger than myself” - To explore the different needs of different generations and how this translates to HR strategy and operational practice
M&A, Outsourcing, In sourcing: Can they ever work from a people perspective? To explore why due diligence misses the people dimension, why cultural mapping is a key stage in the process and how to mitigate risks against M&A/in sourcing activity
Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and Customer Value Proposition (CVP) – To explore what an organisation needs to consider when aligning the two

How negative employee behaviour can derail business strategy – To explore the impact of negative behaviour on the organisation, how to measure employee behaviour and how this translates to business performance and strategic intervention

How HC-ready are you? – To understand what HC is, how it differs from HR, and what it means for individuals and individual organisations
How to retain your grip on retention in a downturn – To explore how to tackle retention at a strategic and operational level during difficult  times
As well as members defining discussion subjects between themselves and being exclusive for HRD’s, the HRD Network is unique for a number of reasons:

Meetings are shared and in turn hosted by participating members
There are no fees or sponsors
The focus is centred around HR strategy with a strong bend towards Human Capital
Speakers share insight and practical case studies to aid learning
It’s across all industries and sectors
